BOOMERANG

By Enny Kastiel and The Grandiose team

The heat from the sun was so blazing that he was thankful he made it to class. It was a large auditorium and students were already on sit in wait for the Professor. Amidst girls pouting, taking ‘selfies’ and guys arguing about the match played during the weekend, he found his way to the middle row where his friend had kept a sit for him. He was hesitant to say thank you to Alfred after grunting about the location of the sit for he was shortsighted. He wore his recommended silver plaited glasses with resentment and sat appropriately in wait for the professor.

The lecturer still yet to come, the heat and the boredom was excruciating so he picked up Alfred’s phone and went through his picture gallery to amuse himself. There as he flipped through his gallery was the picture of a beautiful lady. It was a picture of her taken in front of a mirror with a filtered face and a nice behind to entice. His heart beat faster and all sorts of perverted thoughts ran through his mind.

‘If only I could get a beauty like this laid…’

He had been hooked up with girls like this before. So it won’t be a big deal

He then tapped Alfred and with a smug on his face,

“Who is this fine chick that has this tempting onion booty that makes me want to cry?”

Alfred playfully ruefully smacks his head.

“That’s Lucy my cousin, she studies law here, and she’s high class. She is definitely not in your league man.”

After much persuasion Alfred gave her BBM pin to Charles.

“Don’t worry, I’m a pro at this, I respect the Bro code and won’t make mention of your name’.

Alfred Chuckled and said, “Lucy is quiet a handful snub. I can’t wait to hear your embarrassing stories of your adventure’.

After three weeks of patiently waiting, Charles checked his social media refresh feeds and to his amusement,

“Hashqueen is now a contact.”

He couldn’t be happier so he texts her quickly. Just like Alfred said, she was hard to get. She ignored his messages and several pings. The inspiration to endure this harsh and rude treatment was her display picture, showing her in a sexually suggestive pose and with her fair cleavage showing with ease. The game had just begun.

Finally, Hasqueen decides to reply. He would write a whole paragraph while she replied in monosyllabic words. His lust kept him going and with time her attitude started changing towards him. Alfred, her cousin, noticing things weren’t going as expected, decided to confront Lucy about his friend. Lucy replied him with words that seem to be said with utmost seriousness and sincerity

“So you’re the one that gave him my pin, there can’t be anything between me and him. I have been seeing him around, he is such a showboat, too self conscious about is looks and great pride is obvious to see in the way he walks and acts”

As weeks passed, things began to be different between Lucy and Charles. She had started telling her girl friends how cute he is and he had started flaunting her on her display picture. Several dates were set up which ended up promising and pleasant. Alfred got more troubled on seeing the several numerous and intimate selfies taken on dates they went on. Lucy’s heart had started caving in thoughts of what an awesome boyfriend he was going to be while he was glad in his mind, knowing her faith was sealed up in two Durex condoms.

It was a sunny afternoon when Lucy visited him at home. He had asked the previous night and she agreed after much persuasion. The chilly atmosphere created by the AC in his well furnished apartment relaxed her nerves. He acted like a perfect gentleman that day. He cooked for her and made sure she was comfortable and well entertained. Then a thought popped up in his head.

“This is how nice guys finish last, better cook up something or you will end up playing with yourself at night, besides you’ve exhausted your porn collection.”

He then urged her that they play a game of TRUTH or DARE but this wasn’t the first time she had been in this mischievous games of boys, so with a grin on her face and a raised eye brow, she asked him a question that shattered his ego.

“Why are you such a chicken, so you need this game to ask me intimate questions and make me do naughty things?”

He was speechless because her question rendered him in shook. He smiled to hide his embarrassment which was obvious, but she was gentle on him. They later asked each other personal questions which they both answered sincerely, although there were bits of exaggerations in his answers and she downplayed truths on her sex life. The raging desires in him had started to get the better of him so he dared her to kiss him. She laughed at him and with an indifferent look on her face she said, “naaaa I’m not attracted to you.”

He smiles at her mischievously and told her he really liked her face, the compliment was all he needed as she blushed from ear to ear. His motto of, “no risk taken, nothing ventured” kept him going. With eyes locked on each other he moved in to kiss her and with little hesitation she moved nearer. The kissing starts slow, gets more intense and as she struggled to fight her brakes, her clothes dropped. The sex was intense and the powerful orgasm was the payment for ALL THAT WORK, euphoria was the feeling of his conquest.

She looked gored with the expression of being used but he barely noticed as he watched her pick her clothes. If only he had cuddled her and said sweet things to her, she would have been happier. He walked her to the gate and hugged her not. He went out with his friends that night and told them what an animal she was under the sheets and he gave out her pin to some of them that hoped to have their way with her. Two days passed he only messaged her once for the thought of not using protection haunted him. The double lines on the pregnancy kit sealed their faith.

“How could I be so stupid, I barely survived the last abortion.”

It’s another day in class and news of Lucy’s pregnancy had spread throughout the school. Alfred kept brooding on the matter knowing it originated from him. He was brought back to reality as another friend of his tapped him and asked him who the girl on his wallpaper was. His eyes glowed red as he clenched his fist around his pen, in an attempt to stab him.

“Never look at my sister like that!!!!!”

A STORY FOR THE MIND THAT DREAMS OF LOVE

All I could remember of that day was the unusual story that followed…..

The dawn was near as the cocks had started crowing and the sun was already awakening from its slumber and making ready to stretch its many tentacles of light across the earth.

I really didn’t know what woke me, for it was not my favourite time of rising

But I sensed unusualness in the air……

I arose from my bed and made for the outside

It was really cold for it rained over the night and the freshness of dawn I drew into my lungs

Still a strange heaviness shadowed my mind

I tried making up the reasons for my waking, but I ended up in so many thoughts that led no where

Perhaps I slept on the wrong side or maybe I should go back to sleep

Confusing thoughts abounded and all made no sense for the moment

And I remained as clueless as I was when I awoke.

2

Finally I arose and called on my ever faithful flute

I felt about for the door and I left without thoughts still wandering

I started playing on my flute and took my steps as a tune flowed from the flute

I felt like a leaf blown and dancing in the summer wind which does not know where it shall land

The flute felt like it was playing itself all the way for my fingers were just moving as if the flute directed them.

So strange, but my flute played itself, it sang a song that I once heard so long ago...

Charming melodies that would leave the hear quivering…

“Where are you?”

“My soul searches for you”

“My soul calls to your soul”

“Come home and cease being alone”

3

It sang of my pains, and my mind became bare as of a baby

I walked the length of the town and I never knew when I left it behind

I made for the forest, the dreaded groove of the unknowns.

I walked through and felt no fear

Though a man like a lion I saw; two heads on a neck I sighted, but none shot the arrows of fear at me

Instead they all danced and lighted the way out of the forest.

My story is just beginning for I made the strange beings in the forest forget the evil they were at the sound of my flute

4

Then at distance not too far off, I heard a sound like that which flowed from my flute

It became like tied tunes flowing in unison for no difference could be noted and even the every blowing wind became still in amazement.

So fascinating was the rhythm and it drew closer and closer…..

Soon a light beamed from afar, showing a face like I’d always dreamt of; in her mouth was a flute that seemed to play on its own just like mine did.

Abruptly we both stopped and I came to the realization of what woke me at the break of the dawn

Destiny had found no better time to bring me to the gates of the one I had always dreamt of all nights and days …

There we stood and looked into each other eye…………..

…….I am he that you seek…I am she that you seek……©

Mojisola Alaso Ofi

A piece dedicated to
Ibukun ‘Mojisola’ Olawoye
Whose name inspired the story.

Just like another beautiful day in the land of a thousand people where mojisola alaso ofi lives in a palace.

The talking drum beats the call to bid her rise from her bed of a thousand peacock’s feathers
“ Mojisola alaso ofi o.. nle o…Ojire bi….omo eleni ateika… omo ajifojogbogbo dara bi egbin..gberanle odideo…. Okan to wuyi larin arewa obirin…o dara bi egbin….o sewa bi okin… dide nle o… a o rojo muso lokun o…dide.”
So Mojisola’s day begins in the land of a thousand people.

The call from the talking drum is usually the sound that breaks the silence of the approaching dawn even before the sun parts open the thick curtain of darkness that drew down on the faded beauty of the day before.

The chants of Mojisola Alaso Ofi’s praises from the talking drum would fill the air that even the cocks would often forget their duty of proclaiming the wake of the day with their usual crowing as Mojisola Alao Ofi’s praises drown all, and this would often rouse the people of the land of a thousand people out of their slumber.

Mojisola rises from her bed of a thousand peacock’s feather and steps into the courtyard of her beautiful palace where her subjects would wait on her..
“Ma rora Ibadi aran…ma rora gbese ni ikookan…Omo Ajilala Osho…Omo Ajifojogbogbodara “

The praises of Mojisola Alaso Ofi rings through the palace while the land of a thousand people prepares for the big day ahead…

The day of the big market fair has arrived, where the best of which the land could yield avail in plenty for all to purchase and admire. The land of a thousand people receives many on this day as people would come from even as far as the far away lands beyond the hills and from lands across the great river.

Often you would wonder, why so many would choose to come into the land of a thousand people on this big market fair day, perhaps to make more from their goods or perhaps to see the famous night dance at the village square? Or to be more precise, to catch a glimpse of the famous “MOJISOLA ALASO OFI” for such has become of her fame that no one would deny the fact of not having heard of the name.

The big market fair is usually a day to look forward to, a day when all beings meet at the market square that lies behind the palace of the great king of the land of a thousand people.

The market has come alive with the air filled with sounds that could only be heard from the market only and if you had visited on such a day, I am sure you would have been confused at what to buy as all on display would attract the deepest senses of appreciation.

Now let’s retrace our steps back to the palace of Mojisola Alaso Ofi, the princess of the land of a thousand people.
Mojisola now is dressed and decked as the royalty she is, magnificent and alluring in the sight of those that could catch a glimpse of her majesty.
“Mojisola Alaso Ofi, Omo Oba setan ati geshin woja”

Mojisola is set to ride her horse into the market square, and yes, the big fair day has just begun
Her subjects walk ahead leading the horse on which she rides while the talking drum trails behind rendering the most beautiful lyrics to proclaim her entry.
“Mojisola Alaso ofi nbo o
Mojisola alaso ofi, omo oba nbo o
Ero ona a yago lona….Ero oja e fona le..kolona le koja
Atabga atomode ewa wo omo oba
Mojisola Alaso Ofi , Omo Oba tin geshin woja mbo o”

Mojisola’s entry into the market square is being proclaimed loudly, those who have heard had to call on those who might not have heard for no one would miss catching a glimpse of the passing princess, as such was the magnificence of Mojsola Alaso Ofi.

There she comes, on her decked horse, trotting gracefully into the market, beaming with smiles so full like the full moon and her eyes so hypnotizing such that an innocent bystander wouldn’t know when he would follow the procession and become like her subjects only to come back to his senses when he reaches mojisola’s palace. Mojisola Alaso Ofi’s entry transfixed all in the market square, once, a woman gave all she had on her stock to a stranger while mojisola passed by, only for her to realize she had lost all when mojisola left. One could say mojisola Alaso Ofi is the reason for the big market fair.

Mojisola Alaso Ofi leaves the market as gracefully as she‘d made her entry. Retiring for the day as she awaits her many suitors who would usually bring gifts to her at the end of the market day.

While so many seeks her hand in marriage Mojisola Alaso Ofi only awaits the fair faced young man she sees often in her dreams. Often the fair faced one would call to her like he was so far away and too many times she had reached out to touch the fair faced one but often she usually awoke from such dreams.

The dreams, so real that she knew the fair faced one would come some day
While so many may come bearing gifts of extraordinary values , mojisola would never giver her heart out as she awaits till she sets her eyes on the fair faced one whom she alone knows

The strong, the mighty, the bravest and even the fairest had come and yet many would still come, mojisola Alaso ofi would rather choose to wait till the day her prince would arrive.
Mojisola Alaso Ofi is humble and her kindness surpasses even her famed beauty.

Mojisola Alaso Ofi, the glowing flame of the land of a thousand people. She loves her people and you could see how much they have come to love their princess and would only wish the fair faced hero of her dreams comes in earnest.

Mojisola Alaso Ofi retires to her bed of a thousand peacock’s feathers even as she goes into the land where all is made real and in time to behold yet the face of the fair one she awaits.
The talking drum chants her praises till it all grew still in the land of a thousand people.
“Mojisola Alaso Ofi, orekelewa….afinju omo oba tin fi jo gbogbgo dara…Asunji o
